Steeped in American history, this Washington County gem was founded in 1792 by George & William Boone, cousins of Daniel Boone. It was later in 1831 that the town incorporated and changed its name from Margaretsville (after George’s wife) to Boonsborough, which later became Boonsboro. The town played a prominent role in the American Civil, particularly during the Battle of Antietam. Today, a community of nearly 3,500 calls Boonsboro home.
